I contacted Gustav 4 days ago by e-mail. No answer so far. Maybe spending his holiday?

Guess what ?

For many many years it was nearly impossible in Paris to get other pots
than P11.
You only had the choice between realy crapy Radiohom and the Sfernice P11.
Nowdays,the choice remains the same.Radiohom or P11.
It means that the p11 is still overstocked in Paris.
Even in crazy values like quad 100k or dual log /rev log.

Ok for the story.

Here are few links to see what i am talking about.

SELECTRONIC

And search '' P11''

I can of course help any non french speaker to place an order if interested.

Cheers

If I understood right from the web site this French distributor stocks only cermet, not conductive plastic...

I would use conductive plastic because the circuit is DC coupled.

There is also a mechanical problem because these pots have 6mm spindle and the original has 4mm. So 10mm knobs doesn't fit. The smallest knob size for 6mm spindle is 15mm and that can be a problem in front panel design (there is not much space between the knobs for markings).

audiox,

Where are you getting your P11's from, how much are they? I maybe interested in getting in on that order.
I´m sure most people here will appreciate when PCBs are availble, not only the files.
I am one of them.
I JUST sold some studio eqs and now realize what I did...
about an hour later, I saw your thread.

I am happy again...thanks!

cheers!

Boards are available. Many thanks to Gustav. See the first message in this thread. I also added some info of my source of conductive plastic potentiometers.

Like David, If Paypal OK then I'd like 4 of the P11,

Thanks for the cool project. I have 2 of the 495stb here and they are sweet, BTW the chips are not the poor early v 471 (they are a later upgrade v) just as PRR clearly pointed out years ago. Don't be afraid of picking these up folks.
My one complaint would be the 2 db gain steps are too big. 1 db steps would be so much better IMO.

I'm speaking with these guys tomorrow :

http://www.nobelelectronics.co.uk/vsfernice.htm

If there's a decent interest in pots for Europe then I may do a group buy
when I get a good quantity break/discount for perhaps 200 units.

Will let you all know tomorrow, payment would have to be up front as there's
16 pots needed for a pair !!

Will keep you all posted,

Marty.

Nice work on this project. Looks pretty straightforward even for a noob like me.

I have 2 questions...

what is everyone doing for power?

And 2, about pots.. Audiox, can you confirm the lead spacing for the pots? Is it 2.54 or 5mm? I've found a few pots that would work (I think) but they are all 2.54 spacing and I can't tell which P11 you are using from the part list. Can you tell me if this one would work?

Thanks!

Hi all,

what is it about the vishay sfernice p11a that is so unique?

is it a physical difference or and electronic difference?

just curios to see why you would not use a normal pot here.

Best
Pete

About pots...

AFAIK Sfernice P11 are 5.08 spaced. Too bad cause most of the alternatives are 2.54...
Probably too late to change the board design and include a dual footprint...

According to the part list, we need 8 X 10KLIN PA11QXF
and looking at the drawings all pots footprints look the same.
But from the schematic, P4 and P6 should be dual pots, no?
