I would be interested in a c12 body if I can also get the PSU. Even if it is just the enclosure and the power transformer as many PCB kits here include a PCB for the power supply with the original power transformer. If this is possible then count me in.

If i  understand well you could go here to buy a  toroidal transformer with 2 or 3 custom made secondary

That's... actually quite interesting. 16eu for a 10VA 2-secondary one...

Sure, China could definitely get it to a lower price, but it would be interesting to know just how much cheaper :D

They count the primery for one  winding so if you have two secondaries in your toroidal  you would have 3 windings...  17,60 euros for 10VA..

Ah, my bad then :) Still quite reasonable though. But on the other hand, what power IS needed for a tube mic power supply? Maybe 3-400mA for the heater (assuming it's a fully-used double triode - worst case), and the B+, 100-120V at... 12AX7 datasheet says 1.2mA for 250V plate voltage, so let's exxagerate and say 2mA. So that's about 2.5W for the heaters and another 0.5W for the tube itself.

Even with some "fudge factor" (~40% "headroom") a 5VA one might just be plenty. I'm open to be proven wrong, though :)

But they have that 10% surcharge per over-100V-winding, if i understood correctly?

You understand very well!!  :) 10% more by secondary over 100V...
I don't know about the postage...

I was referring to the fact that many kits like chugger or poctop or ioaudio are specifically designed for the Chinese power supply chassis and fit exactly in it so it would make it easier if I were able to also purchase a PSU chassis + transformer with the body.

Doesn't Chunger basically already offer these?  http://store.studio939.com/

No offense, it's a great project and idea

I'm currently gathering parts for 2x U87 and have a U47 in mind for the horizon after the U87 build is over.  Then comes the U67s, and then...

...just a suggestion, but if you do any business with Alctron, you would do well to inquire about this body style, as it appears to be the closest thing to an affordable ELAM 251 inspired design, and that makes it particularly unique among the standard options (with special interest in the DIY community)...

That's just a shorter Apex 460/T11 body. Same diameter.

Hi there, no offence taken! These are offered at his store for sure, It is just that I am hoping we might can get the costs down with a group buy. I myself am hoping to build several as in more than 10 mics. Hoping to even start a small DIY group here in Taipei to share the fun I am having with it. Would be nice for some beginners to be able to start with an inexpensive build. I had a price of just $38 from one manufacturer that is now in the process of moving their factory. Looks like that combined with Chinese New Year is gonna make for slow going getting this started, but could be worth it. I care more about how the mics sound and have never been unhappy using a cheaper looking mic. (well maybe the AKG C3000)..

I just hope we can get enough interested people, I will just wait a few weeks here and keep watching what people suggest and like. I am still certainly mostly interested in a C12 and U47 style just cause of their sizes mostly. I do also like the idea of a M49 style mic, but I could be fine putting that design inside a 47 body.  I think it could be great to have these powdered coated to add a custom look. But again, if I like the sound I will use it. (not an AKG C3000)

Well I am also interested in 2 C12 and 2 U47 bodies.
The Elam also pleases me well, I planned to make a pair of 251 ;-)
