...But I'm afraid I have to confess that I'm not sifficiently familiar with this word to know if it's potentially insulting or not?

-If anyone has a problem with it, I'll make it disappear, but if it's not offensive, it can stay with no worries... -I just always assumed that it was a potentially insulting term; -If that's a problem/error with my vocabulary then I'd appreciate the correction/education.

it was once a 'mainstream, acceptable' term- now considered offensive by many, but not on the level of the N word. think more along the lines of 'colored'- a little 'off' but really not bad enough to delete. my two cents
