From trading stock with mnpi? No, look up the STOCK act from 2012.fazer said:Congress has immunity from this.
If you mean from the disastrous response to the pandemic, I agree Trump owns much of the blame - as the executive he sets the majority of the tone. But there is no excuse for any member of Congress that was in these kind of classified briefings to just do nothing or worse yet, warn insiders and try to profit off it. Dem Senator Blumenthal for instance was sending out warnings to the public in late February and trying to raise the alarm.
Bothsidesism isn't a great defense of appalling behavior but I guess there isn't much left for Republicans. Burr is the one that had a tape leaked to the media warning wealthy donors on in February and selling stock WHILE not informing the public. It’s also bipartisan behavior but same people pushing these partisan arguments.
This has just turned into a Political ***** thread in the last few days and lacks any meaningful advice for dealing with the Pandemic.
The response right now is governed by politics. And bringing to light the failures of leadership that have the economy and the healthcare system in a tailspin right now might be constructive. And by the way, the brewery is ALWAYS dominated by team politics, but of conservative ideology.
Maybe in February, instead of selling their stock, Republicans could have been sending face masks to hospitals. Tell 3M to start making medical supplies day and night with a guaranteed government purchase. Start to tell the public to begin social distancing INSTEAD of saying it was a political hoax.
Burr compared covid-19 to the 1918 pandemic in private a month ago.
