Neil Young. I wish more people would cover his songs.

Another one of my all time favorites. I don't think either one sounds awful. I want to live in that world. "Creamed Corn from the Socket of Davis" Who loves ya baby.
I realize I should have made clear that 'awful' can be 'very nice' in my book, and especially in the case of De Poepgat Plankzeilers (as they were often called 'back then' on Dutch national radio )
I've seen them about 3 times and especially the first time was one of the weirdest shows I've seen (and I've seen & see a few). "I want to live in that world", you say it mighty fine ;D

Wire. They seeded so much creativity in other bands, but they get no props. Especially their post-punk period. But it is rare that anyone else can take them.

That double live CD of them is maybe not an audiophile statement but it translates very well what they did on stage.
Japan has been and still is really strong on this 'noise' thing.
But as with any other musical style, there is good noise music and bad noise music. Just as there is good free jazz and bad free jazz, or good and bad European-style free improvisation etc etc.
A bit like Art of Noise and Yello !?
