got it.
The process didn't like the 2 different addresses. I used shipping same as billing, as Paypal already had my business address

Igor!

I want a stepped eq!  Do you have a project with stepped gain and fixed bandwidth?

Thanks!
David

Hmmm

Fix BW at Sontec and use stepped switches with different front panel design?

;)

your sontec is fixed gain and bandwidth?

if so I'll be purchasing
Pardon me,but did you read anything about it in the thread or Igor's docs?
And what does a  "fixed gain"mean to you?
Sorry,but I had to ask.

Udo.

Yes I did!

Did you?

By 'fixed gain' I'm referring to the 'Steped Gain' which if you follow the link trail ends in a dead end, and it isn't listed on his website, and Igor is so popular that his inbox is full.

So this seemed like the right place to ask about it.

Let me ask a question to understand what do you want and if I can help here.
Can you please explain in 2-30 plain English (or Russian, Hebrew) words where dou you want to start with this EQ and what do you want to get?
I.e. I want a mastering EQ without bandwidth (fixed at middle or 2/3 of pot rotation with constant value resistors) but with gains in 1 db steps, +/-9 db range.

No reason to sound harsh,o.k.?
So yes,I have read it.
This project was not meant to have stepped switches originally.I don't know what link you refer to,also haven't found a dead end ( if you talk about the links to the docs etc. on Igor's homepage).
Stepped switches came up a while ago,I think it was member dagoose who first chopped the pcbs and added stepped switches.
So in any case it will be a modification since you will have to replace the original pots and wire them to the original pads instead.
For calculating them look at the sontec stepped pot calculator, member harpo was so kind to give us an excellent excel sheet to do stuff like this.

Igor,

I want to use this EQ for mastering, gain in 1db steps would be great.  I saw two stereo eq's that you did.  One was neve/pultec looking and the other sontec.  The main thing I'm looking for is stepped gain.

We're all rebels here :)

David,

Maybe it is a better idea to choose the eq first since a pultec and a sontec are completely different guys. While a sontec is a " surgeon"  the pultec is more like a "musician".Best to have them both of course,hahaha...... ;)
In the case of a pultec Igor's Stepped Pultec has those switches already,he calls this guy "nevtec" because it is a passive pultec style eq followed by a neve style gainstage for makeup.
If sontec you can modify it as described before, same as it can be done with a lot of projects btw.
Or you wait until Igor is ready with his new project,an exciting one being an eq of your choice,so fully analoge signal chain, but completely controlled digital!
From what I've read he is pretty close to finishing.

Just some ideas.

Udo.

@David: first, make your choice. Seek the info about sound from "sound - talking" guys if you need. Hehe, punchy - crispy!
(IMHO sound is like Zen, undescribable in words). In any case, gain some info; read the support threads;
understand how it works; than jump into building. I trying to be independent as possible in mind about both Nevtec / Sontec eq's;
every has its own purpose, both sounds great each for his field. Both can be made with steps and used for mastering.

Ah yep. After re-reading your first question, for terminology etc - good article:

@kante1603: thanx dude! And the DC Uni-Q will be ready - as promised - at this year.
Going to post some videos on FB of how front panel controls works tomorrow, when will be at workshop.
