why did you decide to change tubes? For those of us sitting on unfinished MK7s with no tubes yet, have you found this new tube to be better in some way, or is it maybe easier to source a decent one?

yes and yes!

why did you decide to change tubes?

not all ef86/pf86 perform the same. the new tube is from the ef95 family. if you experience lack of bass in your mic, you can try the ef95 (but you have to recalculate/adjust the heater requirements/bias point, 175mA instead of 200mA)
