AAAAHHHHH!!! You used those Chinese CIC enclosures, didn't you?!?!?! God, how I LOATH those things!!! I mean, I'm glad they worked for you (them things look good! :thumb:) but HUGE tolerances, bent parts that should be straight, holes that weren't tapped, missing parts, and absolutely no QC... I wouldn't wish those enclosures on my worst enemy!

Peace,
Al.

Wow! Both of those look really nice. That's is one hell of a rack job. My Langevin's will not get home that nice. At least not soon.

I love the look of that DI, too. Tell us more.

Hey Tommy,

The stuff looks great. What is the DI enclosure? I like that.

Thanks

Thanks guys. (AM16) I'm not sure which case it is as I picked it up in a trade + money kinda deal. Tolerances are okay (no bent stuff) and all the holes were tapped, so I faired better than you did it would seem. I won't be using them again though, that's for sure. Poor paint. Have another pair to do the same way...was going to sell these but after completing the case I'm beggining to wonder :green:

The DI is really cool. Still playing with different setups. There's only 1 2503, the other is a power trafo. I've used the 2503 backwards @ 3:1 to step down the output. Allows me to plug into a mic pre (which makes it sound better than line level out) and gives me more room to play with the tone of the gain stages. I've kept this one pretty clean sounding but then next is going to have some kind of drive adjustment. I managed to get some pretty hearty dist while playing around with it and I wouldn't mind having a control to adjust this.

The box is Hammond...1455 Series. About $20 and really pleased with it. I was worried about the rigidity of the end plates but no sweat at all. I used a 6"x6"x2".

Tommy,

Nice work on the Langevins. The Langevin attenuators are a nice touch.
How did you wire them? Is it a fixed 20dB switchable pad on the input & the attenuator on the output ?

I`m in the process of racking my Langevins (have been for the last year).
I intend to put a pot on the output. I devised a way to use a 6 pole 4 way switch so I could get all 3 impedance configurations (so I could use my ribbons on the lower Z settings) + 600ohms with 48v, but I`m wondering whether it would be sensible to add a pad as well. Any thoughts on this?

Wired them up fairly straight forward. Input comes to pcb with relays...polarity, 600/600 pad (fixed ~20db), 48v. Goes to the input of the am16 (strapped for 600 in/600 out) then comes out to the attenuators and then out the box. Being a fixed gain device it can be a smart thing to have the pad at the input. I rarely use them but sometimes there's no other way around it.

I'm always so impressed with these amps. So simple yet great performance and quiet. Fast fast I measured ~100db signal to noise @ roughly -30db input.

Thanks for the words all. I have been busy and there's more on the way :green:

The Langevin's are on ebay?

Yup...kinda feel bad but I do have another pair. Gotta big move coming up so I have to build up a little fund.

what is that attenuator?
Bridged T, H?
I'm inspired to rerack mine, going to have to start hunting for an output attenuator sometime soon...

That looks great. Definately some of my FAV pre's.
