I got an account here just to show how excited I am to hear these!  ;D

Will be anxiously checking my bookmarks for the next few weeks.

Thanks in advance for dedicating so much time to doing this onlymeeee!

Is there a clone of those knobs somewhere. I cant believe they cost 30 pounds for one knob, and is that without postage??

pretty sure there isn't a DIY available clone right now. do a search, there's a thread with plans to make some but so far i don't think anything has happened. i imagine someone will do it eventually - it's only a matter of time...

Depending on what people want, I thought that'd be the best way. That way you can have it minimal, like  what I've done, or trim or full fader etc.
the trim / fader is worthwhile and so to a little more control of the input impedance
I think others mentioned hi pass
check out Joe's toy... food for thought

nice DIY onlymeeee

Excellent work Onlymeeee, beautiful! I'm in for a pair to start with.

I can't do kits at the moment. But to order yourself, it'll be easy.  import resistors, caps etc. into mouser at one go.  traffos from Audio Maintenance. Knobs from Neve.

Do you have a project list already done at Mouser that I can use? I'd like to start getting everything so I can begin building when your stuff is ready.

I've been holding money aside for months for these pres. I'm obsessed with them. If they sound as good as they look... well i don't know. Anyways. I will take at least two.  Onlymeee, are you using a DC-DC converter to get the 24V or something else? I know you'll give the word when they are ready, but any news or ideas?

Still waiting unfortunately.  Yeah, I'm using a DC-DC converter to get the 24V.  Also, you can just add a jumper to use the diy lunchbox 24V rail if you should choose.

Neil:  Working on a mouser order at the moment, so hopefully will be able to share soon.  My other orders I made, didn't have all the parts required as I had alot of resistors/caps already

That sounds excellent! I don't understand why all DIY projects do not come with atleast a basic standard full BOM with parts links to begin with, since the designers themselves are already making the purchase of the parts when prototyping. If someone wants to get creative, they can just change the parts on the BOM list.

How are the mic / line inputs wired? I only see one input transformer, presumably a mic input (9045).
The Neve schematic uses a line input (9046) for the line inputs.

The line input is done the same way as the Neve 1063

i stumbled upon this this today and it's exactly what ive been looking for. onlymeeee, you can jot down another two on the great chalkboard in the sky, if you wish. i cant wait.

Just signed up, though I used to have an account here.

Onlymeee, please sign me up for 2. They look wonderful!

Just a little update..  3/4 of PCBs are in.  Metal workers are screen printing at the minute.

Also, had a shootout against 2 vintage Neve 1073s last week.  My initial target of 'vintage authenticity' was definately rewarded.  Definately all in the studio agreed.  Wouldn't have issues using one vintage, and one of mine for a stereo source.
Testing the vintage Neve's freq response; one rolled off quite a bit earlier than it should.  But top end was flat.  The other had a flat bottom end, but steadily had a boost at the top end. (talking probably 1 or 1.5 dB ish at either extreme). Mine is at Neve spec (flat all along -0.5dB)    So possibly in need of a recap, in which case they'd be bang on, I'd say.

That's some great news! How many kits did you order and have you got any closer to a pricing figure? I think I remember you saying close to Peter's EQN price. Anyway you're a bad mother f&@ker for doing this. Just curious, did you even expect or plan on releasing a kit when you built your original? Cause you've got a serios flock of us waiting eagerly with excitement for these.

Cheers,
Brice Conrad
