These arrived today. Metal is stronger than anticipated. Anybody have any experience on finding a similar finish (or even unfinished) of the BM-800 size/model?
I've got a different thread where I'm refinishing a set of mics: 3 BM-800's, BM-700, soon one of these, and probably a few others.

Anyway, one of the BM-800's had blockier and less refined machining on the end cap (where it's not visible, except upon disassembly), and the whole exterior body was coated with a much more robust powder coat, and had branding that was etched all the way down into the metal.

It was a PITA to remove, as solvents wouldn't touch the powder coat, and it was fairly robust against good aluminum oxide sandpaper too. Whatever they used, it was good stuff.

The problem: very different finishes, exact same make and model for 3 of them.

The link provided in post #11 is a great body. Been buying them for a while now. They come with a 1” element, electronics have changed a few times but I don’t buy them for that. Better than the 800 series bodies. And they arent branded, just a plain unmarked body.

Consider hammertone paint. I’ve done a couple with this and its not bad.

I've used it, but I've never liked it. Hammertone is, of course, a ton less work, and far easier.

It just doesn't have the depth of color, brightness, pop, smoothness, perl/flake, or number of colors that you can get with auto paints, and you don't get nearly the level of control of an airbrush.
