For those who want to use the "Teletronix" style Sifam replacement meter you'll might want to do one slight modification to the front panel since - as I found out just now when putting together a chassis for the first time using the "Teletronix" style Sifam replacement meter I got from Weiss:
Sifam designed their Bezel slightly different from the original Beede meter bezel.
I made a quick illustration to give you an idea:
Above the cutout the original meter only overlaps the cutout by about 2mm, while the Sifam replacement meter overlaps the cutout by approx. 5mm.
That means, since in my front panel the distance between the VU meter cutout and the mounting hole for the lamp holder is the same as in the original unit, the meter will still fit but the bezel will overlap the screw that holds the lamp holder by about 1.5mm - pic attached:
But as you can see in the illustration above, the bezel also overlaps the cutout below the meter. So I tried it already and if the issue is bothering you, it's very simple to file off the lower edge of the cutout by about 1.5 - 2mm. Since the edge is covered by the bezel later it's almost impossible to mess up, and since the bezel is mounted to the front panel by some brackets on the left and right side it will still sit tight as it should.
Let me show you how I did it - it took me less than 10 minutes: first take a ruler and draw a line about 1.5 or 2mm below the lower edge of the cutout (preferably on both sides of the panel):
Then file off the lower edge - use the line as reference:
I used a clamp to mount the panel during the procedure but I covered the panel with a thick piece of old clothes where the clamp holds the panel so to not leave any scratches. The easiest way to do it is to use the file in something like a 45° angle towards the panel - first from the one side and then from the other. Then flatten the edge by filing horizontally:
In the end it should look something like this:
Now if you put in the bezel:
Then use the brackets to mount the meter:
and done!
If you don't use the "Teletronix"style meter but the regular Sifam meter instead, there's no modifiaction needed.
If there's a second run I might just move the VU meter cutout down by 2mm - even though it's not the original position or I will make the VU meter cutout simply 2mm larger, so those using the regular Sifam meter can mount it in the original position and those using the "Teletronix" style meter can move the meter & bezel down to not get in the way of the lamp holder mounting hole...
If you feel you are totally incapable of doing the modification yourself, I would offer to help you, but as mentioned above it's literally impossible to mess up
