Sony DMX R100 - is it useful?

I came across a Sony DMX100 digital console at an auction. It looks quite interesting and packed with features, though it’s rather old. It has a color screen and a Channel Strip, and judging by some of the ports for a keyboard, mouse, and monitor, it seems to be built on a PC-based system.


Has anyone had experience with this console? Can it be used for FOH on live concert venues? And what about studio use?

It's DMX R100 as seen in the photo. Not meaning to be pedantic - useful when searching for info.
Obvious question: Do you know if it is being offered as fully working ?
If so it should be rather useful imo.

I've used in post or TV at my beginnings, in conjunction with AKAI DD1500. It was a great console, pretty reliable at this time. Though they will be very old now and imo, digital console have come a long way from this period.

The problem with 20 year old digital stuff is they are full of unavailable chips. Any problem results in endless search for expensive NOS or 2nd-hand parts.

I used one for live sound in a small performing arts space, about a dozen years ago. I found it kind of challenging to get around on, but I quite liked the sound of it.
