U47-style bodies - who can make one?

Gunter Wagner also offers this:

http://gwagner.50webs.com/U47Parts/U47clone.htm

His version is an exact copy of an original U47 body and is offered as a complete mechanics kit which includes all internal parts except the electronics.  Every part in his mechanics kit is interchangeable with an original U47, but these kits are quite expensive, about $1500 USD.

If anyone can come up with a cheaper version of this, I would be very interested.  If the mic body is to be designed for an MK7, then the internal parts wouldn’t be necessary but should at least include mounting rails for the PC board and hardware to mount the male multi-pin connector.

I would guess that, like Wunder, he sources all the parts from flea in slovakia. But that is just an assumption.

can you write something more about it? I live about 200km from slovakian border so I can write some mails and at least get some estimates.

Thou are simply forgetting that the head-basket and grill played a role in the u47s sound.

at this point I feel it would be foolish to continue to humour this thread while much of the talk is simply placed up on the "LOOK" of a 47, if that is the only desire for a custom body then i am at a lost because there are plenty of donor microphones available that have a simliar look.

I'd me, as i am speaking for self, I'd much rather have a microphone where the acoustics of the grill complimented Dales m7 and the mk7 kit.
if that happens to be the t.bone mic then I am all for it.

[if one was to truly attempt to dupe the grill, one would have to investigate how many layers of mesh, the size of mesh, etc.]

good day gents!

Guys,

We're not specifically looking for bodies that we can fool people and say, "here's my real U47".  Telefunken logos and stuff..

We're looking for bodies that look like the U47 because when coupled with an M7 capsule, tube head amp and a the nice tranny that max designed, should give us some of that U47 magic that everyone wants.

Ferrari, perhaps you are getting caught on the word "bodies".... when I say bodies, i generally include the headbasket, which should mimic the U47's.  If you want to put a U47-style headbasket on a kleenex box, fine.  I'd rather have a U47 styled body.

If someone would like to design a body (and headbasket) that compliments the Dale M7 and MK7, then that sounds like a big project, and a new thread.

If we want to take a shortcut and stuff the MK7+M7 into an exactly identical U47 body and headbasket, lets go for it.

The one left is the same as the T-bone but long body.
I have one mic with Dale M7 modifyed from a mic with that type of body.

Certainly Sir!, Certainly ... I just have a hard time digesting to finding: "an exactly identical u47 body and headbasket" don't take it as a jab or anything.
I just started getting the feeling that too much thought was going towards look.
And my apologies if I was wrong.
Performance just was more on my mind.  :D

so Chance are those what you are able to source?
what is the approx lead time?

naturally everybody is free to do as they please here. these are just a few thoughts i had about a U47 clone without a Vf14. ioaudio seems to have offered a very fine alternative. his transformer,PF86 and circuit have been designed to give a U47ish result. i've never used a U47 so im sure i'll be very happy with the results of ioaudio's project. i'll be using a theirsh m7 or maybe a dale m7 and want to get the best results from them. a headbasket that compliments the capsule seems crucial.
see this article:

the replacement parts available are out of my price range. if i can get enough data (dimensions, grill size and orientation, capsule placement etc.) i will be making my own. i dont want to settle for a similar head basket because when dealing with such a tiny acoustical space(the head basket) any tiny difference from the U47 basket will have a proportionately large effect on the acoustics.i've looked for a mechanical drawing of the mic but have come up empty. i dont imagine nuemann has any desire to make info on their designs public knowledge. patent searches have come up empty also. still i'll keep looking (wont get to this project for some time) if anyone can steer me to some or all of this info that would be great. when i finally do this build i'll be sure to share anything i believe will be of use to others.

seavote we are one in the same mind!
I'm searching for as much info I can on the u47 headbasket ...
I'd be more inclined to hear what Gus would say on said topic?
maybe take a visit and do a search over @ http://recforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/f/33/0/
[k.h.]

i don't know? [i posted the same link as you, and only heard chirping]
not in a rush, either! maybe experimentation will be the actual key?
buying a small batch of prospects and going from there?
