Hi folks. This is my first post. I was doing a DIY u47 search last night and stumbled on to this thread. I couldn't stop reading. WOW, you've done a bang up job! Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Please put me down for 2 complete kits, Skylar.

If the alloy is the right grade, you'll get a nice finish anodising a polished tube. A light etch and it'll look good. I'll probably go for plating - something akin to a frosted matt silver.

Sterling work, Skylar.

I had to change the scale of the results bar graph!

We were almost to the end of it!

Which is GOOD!

I'm getting prices back for plating services, which are right in line with my estimates, so we're looking great!

Justin, did you fill out Skylar's survey?  It's in his sig.  That's the pre-lim sign up.

No, but I have now  :) Thanks.

I'd prefer polished nickel.

In regards to shock mounts, there's a seller on ebay (he's there all the time) that has them for $88.00 - Buy It Now. If there's enough interest he may go for a group buy. Type in U47 in the Pro Audio and Stage Effects catagory if you want to check them out. Miketube is the sellers name.

Thats a Peluso shockmount.
I have one for a U87 and it does a good job with good construction.
Maybe Peluso would do a group buy for their U47 shockmounts?

Damn, forgot that I needed a shockmount for the wider body!

This place has got the Peluso for a bit cheaper:

Telefunken also makes one similar to the Peluso

Hello Gentlemen,

I´m pretty sure i can have them done for muuuch less than $88.
If there is interest i can ask right know.

i'll take 5.

hi martin, the socket body is moulded bakerlite (even smells good when you file it) and the pin leafs are nickel (i did get a batch of gold but it was too thin and wares too easily).  I am yet to have any problems with these sockets, i have used them in many a repair with great results.

Also re shock mount, i reakon that oneof my suppliers would custom make what ever we want as far as shock mounts go for about $24-28 plus a few for shipping.

cheers,
