It is in the sense that it uses a cascode, that no one else uses because there is no advantage to it, except it allows using lower voltage FET's. They just say it is part of the "invention", but do not claim any benefit from it.

I did not  post a lot in the first post because I wanted to see if a discussion would start.

 JFET cascodes can be found in other microphones.


The odd thing is I was looking for something else it did have cascode in the search and this was an early result from google.

JFET cascodes can be found in other microphones.
That makes a lot of sense, since it reduces significantly the Miller effect. Input capacitance is a major source of noise and distortion.
