adrianh it was a nice offer last year and it s still a nice offer!
Maybe instead of the complete manual only few pages could be real great for the diy project: such the original parts list and the maintenance operation (test procedure initial adjustement ...things like that. i never seen the manual so i don t what s inside...)
caniking offer host the pages....

Yes the Input Attenuator R5 pot is DUAL GANG 500K, says so right on it.

R8 is a 1K 1W pot. it reads (PA20A1SD102AK 1K CTS702)

R10 IS A 500K 1W (CTS704)

C1 IS A MICAMOLD 1.0 MFD CAP. 200 V.D.C.
All my Transformers are ATLANTIC TRANSFORMER CORP.

The input model M-1368 is
100-5000~ .5db power level -25db max v to gnd = <1V

The output model M-13689is
100-5000~ 1db power level = 6mw (0db) =11V

LEG 8 of V2 does conect to R4, C3 and C5. The laminated schematic on the inside bottom cover shows the dot clearly.

My units are fomrthe same batch and were nver installed once htey had been built. I turns out they had been in storage since they were built. I gotthem from two different guys that got them from the same source. They were found in a storage warehouse still in the crates.

These guys put very little hours on them.

I'll snap a shot of the inside schemo.

MY R3 and R4's are 12k

thanks a lot for thoses infos Tubemonkey
i ve yet post thoses on another 864 thread but here again. on a 864 pic i have ican read on the output transformer:
max WV/GND 11V (?)1DB 100-5000~ stanley corp transformer
the other side of the can is hidden
on input transformer:
TF 1A ????unreadable
primary 600 ct secondary 10kct
level -(?) 25db
0DC
stanley corp transformer
(other side hidden)
power transformer
TF 1A 03 YY

max w.v/gnd .PRI .310v
sec1 -200v sec.2 .200v sec.3 .170v
part no s-1687 stanley corp transformer.
if it can help.? or for "historical purposes"...
btw tube monkey could you tell me the VU diameter?

HS66 will not work here, you'll just have to box them up and send them to me =)

HS66 is a matching traffo, capable 62-600 ohms depending on how you strap it.

You're looking for 600-10K 10K-600.

Your lookin for something more like:

Cinemag CMLI-10/600

Cinemag CMMI-8C

Peerless S-217D

I'm sure Lundahl, Sowter and Jensen also have stuff suitable

For Input I'm going to use the CMMI-8C
It has twice the gain you need there. Also, being a mic input transformer it has a third of the headroom of a typical line input transformer.
Sowter makes a good 600/10K line input, sold by our host. The Cinemag 10K/600 mentined earlier might work too.

For output : CM-9589?
I don't see how that would work for the output at all. It is missing the center tap you need. Also, those cores with Ni will saturate at very low DC levels and you will have DC on the primaries in this limiter.

Cheers,
Tamas

excellent, thanks Tamas...

just trying to explore other options... I use sowter for everything, trying to see if there's a different flavor out there

Cheers :sam:

Oops, and the dunce cap goes to the boy who was lookin at the numbers and not the schematic

The iron and the choice of brand/vintage of the 6SN7 will play a role in the sound.

Nobody talks much about the Langevine Leveline tube compressor I hear it was one of the best.

Hmmm, max headroom - 6db. Plus, Langevin transformers.

- 6 db headroom, is that good or bad?
