if anyone is interested on a group buy of xformers, knobs and or dc-dc converters im in :)
I am just waiting on responses back from various sources, but it seems not many places carry them. The replies I have received so far sais that they are very expensive because of the process used to create them.

I will keep you noted on them. But I will be buying stuff for this build through Digikey so when I get that going, Il contact you if you want to split with me. The shipping charge is ridiculous for small quantity purchase!

Let me know. I'll be getting what I can from mouser as I need to buy my mk7 parts too so I can get free shipping if I get enough parts through them :p but everything that's not from mouser I'd be happy to go splits with you if you want.

The GR-03-001 switches are now all inside the NV73 partial kits (part number AML-17-016);

... because there are not many left and they are now a 14 week lead time...

This is through AMS Neve

Large Red Knob            MK20004/6        23.00 GBP each
Small Grey Knob            MK20008/4        12.00 GBP each

Shipping to Australia via FedEx is approximately 22.00 GBP, this can vary depending on the quantity of knobs ordered.

Im out on the real deal knobs! Way toooo much mulla for just 2 knobs  :(

So far, this is the only place that sells them. All the other places that I emailed, do not sell them.

i gotta agree, i'm UK but to put authentic knobs on my pair would be £70 before postage!
thats mental ~ check out the cheap red chicken heads, i think they'll look alright, the colour tone looks similar at least £1 a pop :)

onlymeeee,
those relays.
i took them out of my cart but is there any benefit to having that third single relay still in the circuit as opposed to shorting to ground?
if it makes no difference i wont get one.
cheers

I may just have to use stickytape or electrical tape and bound it around the shaft until it makes a nice thick DIY knob.  ;)

Anyways if I come up with anything cheaper, Il post it up but for now, seems like its only AMS-Neve.

Hey everyone.  Got the last of the orders packed up and most have already been picked up by the courier either yesterday or today.  The few that haven't already been picked up will be collected tomorrow (incl. yours crisotop)
I'll send out tracking numbers soon too
Thanks everyone

I'm still working on the manual... although the PCB has part designations and values so should be self explanatory.  I'll hopefully get it finished soon though.  In fact I'll add a few 'tips' to the website in the mean time.

eg.  the big carnhill transformer pins come having some solder on the pins that you need to desolder off a little bit before the pcb will fit over them.  (or use wire!)

The third relay mutes the signal and only unmutes when full 24V is in the system... mutes again when powersupply turns off.  Less pops etc. on power up and down. Especially when turned on whilst set at highest gain
Personally I think it's worth putting in

ah damn, i took it off :) oh well i'll get a couple later.

re: tracking numbers, that would be good.
i was gonna ask as there was a post earlier someone received by 28th!?, i know i got in early with payment too when you announced, but thought it may be because of my location within UK. no sign yet but i dont have the parts yet anyway either :)

I just received a pair of goodies from the DHL man a few minutes ago. That was super fast shipping David!

I must say, I think the faceplates are lovely. I really like the dead flat finish. High gloss is fine for your car but not good in a control room, IMHO.  8)

Nice piece of kit all the way 'round. Now, another project to get to work on.  :D

Cheers, Jeff

wait, Jeff - you got it before me  :(
this is NOT fair :-\

ok, you are in the US, and they decided today to find an old WW2 500kg US air-bomb next to me.
all is closed and evacuated, no delivering to me today ::)

at the moment I'm hiding me from the police, no lights etc - like war must have been in the past.
the only difference is: it is that quiet now - lovely.
last time I have been evacuated because of a bomb is months ago,
today I decided to stay at home in silence ;D

btw: The Don Classics are now member of the GroupDIY 51X ALLIANCE
