I own at least 14 completely original AKG CK12's and I just repaired 11 completely original CK12's. I work on probably 100 original CK12's every year for the last 20 years.

I think we have made our points and so I am taking down my posts not because I mind anything that has been said but more it is a drain on the members and topic. I don't mind these discussions I take everything that has been said seriously ☮️

I am currently in Germany on my way to Berlin to talk about... capsules!
Is this in public, or with a manufacturer?

Myburgh uses Haun's CK12 style capsule. I talk with Dirk Brauner all the time. He may move to Denmark soon.

My experience with Tim's capsule.

In Tim's defense: This is the only capsule i have ever had that allows me to just cut the unusable low end on vocals (generally something i always do), put a compressor on it and that's it. No de-esser, no eq needed. Finished, polished vocal sound. Sits right in the mix. End of story. It has the detailed top end, HI-Fi sound C12 is famous for. Night and day difference compared to u47 or u87 sound.
That is exactly what I'm looking for right now. Hopefully one of the upcoming CK12s will deliver these qualities, would go nicely with my Arienne equipped U47 and U87.

I had recreate all the parts of the vintage 251E, including the CK12 capsule and T14/1 output transformer, here are some pictures of the M251E's head.I will soon complete all of this.
The CK12 capsule sounds great,I will record some raw audio Recently。

What is the price of your microphone? Capsule?

I think Haun does make at least two different sounding CK12 type capsules. The one in their modular system has a different target frequency response than the one they used to supply to Bock.

David Bock specified a different bass response for his capsules. MBHO capsules used in their own mics used to be built for 48v polarization and every single one of them collapsed when David first tried to use them.

Herbert Haun and me at MBHO.

I think that original CK12 I like best seem to support an area in the lower midrange of the voice that’s a little bit higher in register than the low end accentuation of the Bock Haun capsule. The Haun is also a wee bit pronounced between 1 and 2k I think. High quality capsule, pretty well balanced and wide bandwidth, nothing funky.

Tim, do you know whether the styroflex that AKG originally used would have had some self rigidity to it? The styroflex that I have encountered is a bit stiff, I guess a bit analogous to PVC in that way, and not floppy in the way mylar type films are.

May as well touch on something that hasn’t been discussed too much.
