New Jersey Drones?

What's going on over New Jersey? Hostile forces spying on the USA? Aliens or visitors from the future?

I think the first can be ruled out. If I want to spy on a country with malicious intent, I don't turn on the position lights on my "drone", right?
I also rule out the UFOs and time travelers, if you were to set off on such a long journey, wouldn't you land? Well, maybe they saw our TV programs and then decided against it spontaneously. I could understand it...

They are from Iran or North Korea, or from North Korea or Iran. North Korea and Iran sounds better than Iran or North Korea.

If paying attention to world events we have seen drone technology continue to improve. Sadly we have seen the US technology that used to be the best in world (decades ago) get eclipsed by multiple less friendly nations.

The NJ brouhaha is at least in part fueled by media speculation stirring the pot. That said there are reports of real drone incursions over US military bases around the world. So there may be a little there there, but unlikely to be a replay of the 1938 "war of the world's" mercury theater radio broadcast.
