The Chinese manufacture of these mics are probably well aware of this thread, so maybe posting here is not doing any good for Skylars negotiations..? Or is it ok to give our opinions how we think we should do with this mic situation? Because I know I want to! ;D

ok, my extra 1c:

these are probably fine as is.  you have done a great job of showing the issues, and they all do seem minor.
i think if you can negotiate a discount that will be great, and they'll have some incentive to get it right next time
(and folks that want that can wait for round 2).
either way, i'll take them and be happy.

thanks again again!

I think the reflections focused from the dome interior down towards the capsule would be significant depending on whether the internal mesh is on axis, or 45 deg off axis. Consider the total interior surface area of the dome compared to the total interior surface area of front and back. even if it's as low as 25% surface area that is significant when looking at the overall interior of the system and the physical pressure points at the front and back of the capsule.

Good point.
Initially I was wrongly thinking only about the sound's path from outside,
but we can't dismiss the interior reflections.

I probably would have bought one even being aware of the issues.  Good luck with your negotiations, and thanks for all the work you've put in to his Skylar.

IMO:

It should make no nevermind; business is business. All the suggestions that were given were improvements on the current state of affairs, which IMO, is not acceptable given the fact that the 2nd and 3rd samples were spot on.

I know that in the end in their mind it's probably only about the dollar and if they should ignore the customer service aspect, then it WILL come back to bite them.

Why not just make a list of people who wish to back out of the 1st batch and wait for the second batch?
Keep the ball rolling? I very much doubt that they will fold and just fix all of the head baskets.

Hey Skylar, I'm fine with the cosmetic glitches.  It's still a great deal for the price (compare the FLEA 47 bodies for $900!).  I'd prefer to get mine as soon as possible.

Guessing the chinese business men still think not making the right product is ok by the lack of updates.

I feel for ya man! Hopefully these people go back and do it right!

I have all my parts for my mk7 on their way so can't wait!

the falling value of the dollar should be an incentive for them to complete the deal

Oh boy, can't we just get on? Seriously, who of you would even have noticed, if Skylar hadn't pointed you toward the non-biased basket top mesh?

Again, we're just talking about the lower two layers in the roof part of the basket! The top layer is correctly aligned, and the sides of the basket (which are all that really matters) are perfect. IMO this is really no big deal. The waiting is worse.

Well, I think there has been quite enough waiting.

Last week I ordered that the factory start shipping these to me ASAP so that I can ship them to you.
We are going to get something of a discount, and that amount will be passed on to those who purchased.

I'll keep you updated as to how much $$$ you'll be getting back.

Dear Santa,

Thanks for coming early even though I have been naughty a couple times this year. I'm sure you will be tired and cold with all the preparation, travel, and other stuff so I will send cookies, milk, and a maybe little something extra. Sorry, just raw ingredients for you though. After all this is DIY!

Best,
jonathan

This is great news.... At a later date if we what to replace the headbasket... can we buy just that...?
