Got mine last night, and this morning my G7 lives!

Skylar, I want to thank you for pulling this all together. A couple of years ago we never would have believed we could have such a nice platform for building mics. Amazing.

Last week I ordered that the factory start shipping these to me ASAP so that I can ship them to you.
We are going to get something of a discount, and that amount will be passed on to those who purchased.

I'll keep you updated as to how much $$$ you'll be getting back.

Is this still happening?

I'd like to apologize to Skylar if some of my comments or questions seemed harsh and un grateful. I got frustrated and should have resolved the problems before posting. It's all workable. Thanks for making this great project materialize.

This may go without saying for experienced diyers... but watch your fingers when you disassemble the mic!  Lots of sharp edges.  I think I'll leave the little spots of blood on the inside of the bottom cap where I was trying to pry it off.

The threads on the bottom cap were really sharp.  I threaded the Binder on there to make sure the threads weren't fouled and got it on and back off okay, but thanks to your warning, no blood was shed.  Ha ha.  So thank you - from an inexperienced DIYer!

And Skylar, thank you again.

Well i still hope that the second run goes ahead otherwise its $500 mic bodies from beesneez for me!
And wtf does your comment contribute to this thread?

I'm choosing to not take TheGuitarist's comment in a negative way. I think what he is trying to say is that if a second production run of Skylars mic bodies doesn't happen, he's going to have to PAY MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH to get a mic body that has the dimensions of a U47.

Really. The choice of words could have been more careful, but that's all he's actually saying.

I'm lucky enough to be holding a EQU47 microphone body in my hands right now; and I can say that it's worth every penny I paid.

Let's leave it like that and get on with the more pleasant subject of building a world class microphone.

Go DIY baby!

Yes,that´s how I understood too!
I´m in the same position as him having no mic-body but the other parts......

Best regards,

Udo.

Just a tip German buyers:
The USPS tracking system will at some point say "Attempted delivery [blah blah]". No, they did not shop up at your door while you were away.

Copy the USPS tracking code (CJ....), go to www.dhl.de and paste it into the "Sendungsnummer" field. Now you'll see where your parcel really is. Mine is at the local customs office, right now.

I picked up the package at the berlin customs today. The screws went off easy (I do have good screwdrivers) The body looks really nice,
the inside looks very chinese. If you look at the mic from some distance you see that the head is a little tilted... I'm happy with the result

I'm remaining optimistic that the second run will go through.  ;)

I picked up my mic bodies at customs today. Well done Skylar. I'm happy.

Yep, picked up mine today also.  ;D

Head basket sits straight, guess I got a good one...

Just noticed that the inner mesh on one side isn't exactly 90 deg. Not a big thing.

Big thanks to Skylar, shipping was very fast too!

Fits well in the GB shock mount. (the earlier GB, not Bens)

Received mine today, one basket a little off,  not sure about this " striping " but it looks like one side of the body is " Satin " finish and the other is just " Dull " on both bodies, it looks like their plating / finishing process was way not even, or they tried to " Fix " them afterwords.

I haven't tried to take them apart yet, the shock mounts fit perfect.

A  little disappointed with the quality, but for the price, it just cant be beat.

I have been slowly working on a square brass tube mic body for a couple of Gyraf G-7s over the last 2 1/2 years, working with small local machine shops...till they go out of business, then look for another  ... on the third one now and still not finished yet ... in to it for about $600  .

Skylar, I want to THANK YOU , for this Herculean  effort and seeing this through, as I do have an idea as to what it takes ( and took ) to accomplish this. and everyone who helped.

P.S.    if you think about it , this mic body  costs about $100 more than the MXL 2001 I bought and gutted for the Royer tube Mod.

Hey Skylar, just sent you an email to your sales email.
I got the body today and it looks fantastic, but my order is missing the male binder insert for the mic and also the female binder is missing.

My email address is sjamesmusic   @      gmail.com

cheers

Hallo Skylar,

i just picked up my MIC-Body from the local customs office. I was asked (forced ?) to open the packet and i was very very impressed.

I had to explain the whole story, cause the Officer was so excited. He told me that he is a hobby-musician as well. He asked me, if there is a chance, that he can get a Body as well. He even asked me, if i could build a Mic for him.

But i said no, cause tis is a DIY project. One can think, that the question was a trap, but i doubt. I am pretty sure, that his question was meant honestly.

Once again: Skylar, congrats for all the work you did. If i would be a woman, i would kiss and hug you

Cheers,
Peter

PS: There is a (little) scratch on my body. Not that i complain, i just want to tell. It is such a shame, that these chinese work so badly. I must have been very frustrating for you, Skylar. I have not read the whole thread, but i know that you unsuccessfully tried to find someone in the States to produce. HAve you tried to find someone i good old Europe ?

Hi guys,

Not such good news here. I was charged £127.54 ( about $204) in tax and handling to pick up my microphone.

The paperwork & customs declaration was filled in wrong by the sender - Equinox claimed to have sent 2 microphones at $400 each, rather than one at $200. Of course there is only one inside the box.

I hope this is a one off and not happening to everyone.

I'm trying to call customs to get a rebate but of course all the lines are busy.
