ouch Tommy! It's hard to imagine an easy out bit small enough but maybe?

Yeah, thanks. I've tried those types or reverse screw removal bits previously in other applications.  They are very difficult to get to work, because there insufficient bite in the screw, particularly with miniature screws as these because there is so little material for the bit to bite into or attach itself to.

Got mine today!  Looks nice.  The only issues with mine are some noticeable scratching in the finish on the bottom of the body, and one small irregularity in the finish of the body tube. I'm willing to live with it.

About installing the binder, I couldn't figure how to get it in either until I realized there is a ring that unscrews from the top using a coin.  Check the manual for pics: http://equinoxsystems.net/wp-content/uploads/manuals/EQMBU47/EQU47%20Manual%20Rev%20B.pdf

I also found that once I got one screw out, it seemed to take some pressure off the other screws.  For those of you having trouble, you might try and find the easiest/least stripped one and go for that one first.

Thanks so much for all your efforts Skylar!

After reading all the horror stories about the screws (I'm afraid to even try removing mine for the moment), I'm wondering if it might not be better to have the factory just ship the individual parts for assembly by the end user??  It seems so strange that they would over-torque the screws to begin with.  My MK47 kit arrived today also.  Unfortunately, I wasn't here to accept the package, which requires a signature, so I have to go back to the Post Office to pick it up tomorrow or Friday.

My screws actually came out pretty easy.  It was mostly just a matter of finding a screw driver that fit well, and holding it at such an angle that I could apply a decent amount of force toward the body while slowly unscrewing it.  If you're really worried, you could put the body in a vice (gently, with a towel of course,) so that you can get above it with the screwdriver and apply plenty of down force.

Now that I look again, I notice that the bottom screw on mine is a bit pre-stripped, but it came out easily enough anyway.

Now on to the build!

That's the key for units with difficult screws. If you don't have a well-fitting screwdriver, it's easy to strip the screws into oblivion.

I am going to handle all the issues that anyone has and try my best to take care of you.
Please be patient, as I may not be able to address your issues until tomorrow.

I've had bad luck with the screws as well. It looks like the parts were not lined up before assembly. All of them but one are out now.
the finish suffered minor scuffs unfortunately. Is drilling the way to go ? The other question i have is about the thread at the base of the mic. Are we confident that it's not going to strip after 10 times of removing the cable or should we always live it plugged in ?
I see that as a bigger potential problem because the Binder connector seems a lot stronger than the thread on the base of the mic.
Thanks Skylar for all your efforts and pulling this through but i'm not thrilled by the work at the factory.Beyond the first impression
which is quite nice, when you look in detail everything is a little off.

ubxf:  If the one remaining is one of the top ones, you might try wiggling the head basket back and forth relative to the body to try and loosen it up.  I noticed on re-assembly that there's a fair bit of play when you only have one screw in, and you might be able to get more leverage that way without risking damage to the screw head.

Got mine today, thanks Skylar!!! You're efforts are greatly appreciated

cheers,
dave

Thanks for the tip but i'm afraid that this screw won't come out  it's kind of seized in the thread , i managed to remove another one like that and when it was out i was surprised to see that the screw was actually bent and went in at an angle. When i used the new one provided it's kind of loose
i probably have to use one size bigger.

I didn't receive mine yet, but I don't expect a german manufactured mic body for that prize, BUT the dimension are going to be right !!

You're right it's just frustrating that after Skylar put so much efforts into every detail his instructions were not followed completely . My guess is that the dimensions on all the pieces vary slightly so during assembly things have to be forced together. Straight lines are bent. Circles are oval.
I'm ok with all that and will make it work, i just hope it doesn't fall apart during use.

Does the Ben K7 capsule mount (that cames with is capsule) can be mounted with Skylar u47 without any metalwork?

ALso, does the shockmounts that ben sells, fit the skylar u47 body?

Thanks,
Luis

The 60mm shockmount should fit and actually looks like the group buy ones we had
