Hi guys,

Not such good news here. I was charged £127.54 ( about $204) in tax and handling to pick up my microphone.

The paperwork & customs declaration was filled in wrong by the sender - Equinox claimed to have sent 2 microphones at $400 each, rather than one at $200. Of course there is only one inside the box.

I hope this is a one off and not happening to everyone.

I'm trying to call customs to get a rebate but of course all the lines are busy.

Zebra, check your PM.

Steve, check your PM.

Hi Skylar,

Thanks for the message - I have sent a reply.

I've spoken to customs and they say that a refund is possible if I can supply invoices etc. Hopefully everything will work out fine. I was just a bit frustrated at the big bill.

Me too Frank, yesterday, they were delivered today.
I'll post here when I open the parcels at around 5pm.

Good to hear you might have a resolution Stewart!

Picked up my two bodies yesterday.

No problems with the screws. However, there's noticeable striping on both bodies, and one body has a small scratch below one of the screws.

The heads look slightly slanted to one side but I was able to correct most of that. On one of the bodies the top layer mesh does not have the right angle, it is a bit off - I'm glad it's on the backside where you don't have to look at it all the time.

At the price, I'm not complaining, and I don't blame Skylar for the factory's faults, but the workmanship does look and feel Chinese. That may not be quite as apparent to anyone who has never used a genuine U47, though.

German customs + VAT was about 85 Euros for two bodies.

Wow, 15 bucks more than my bill. I paid 70Euros for German Customs + VAT.  ???
But who cares, at least I got those babies now.

Maybe they charged you for the bodies only. They are actually required to charge you for the full amount including the shipping costs. I also had two binder connectors. Only 7.90 Euros was customs, the rest was VAT.

Just looked at the papers and realized their exchange rate was only 1.27 $ per Euro. Oh well.

Hey Skylar,

Got my parcel with two mic bodies, unfortunately the shipping service looks like they've been playing footie with it, one of the headbaskets is quite bashed, I've sent pics to the Equinox systems address.

The other looks great, headbasket a little squint but nothing I can't sort.

Many thanks for all your work in making this happen.  :)

Cheers

Jim

Skylar.
Received mine today. Excellent stuff, contrary to what others have found.

Hello Skylar,
Received my parcel yesterday!
The body looks really nice.
Many thanks for all your effort.
To Madreza: no custom fees for me.
All the best.

Received mine today!

(45 Euros in taxes and fees for one body by the way, not too bad)

Looks nice. The screws came out no problem.    ;D

Skylar: I've sent you an email, looks like the binder insert and female connector are missing.

Pretty much what Grooveteer, with the exception that i received everything i ordered.
With a bit of caution and the right screwdriver getting out the low-quality screws was no problem.

Cheers and thank you for all your hard work.

Sent you an email.

Received my mic bodies today in the UK.  Paid £62.08 VAT and duty to get them delivered.  Both bodies look very, very good considering the manufacturing issues Skylar faced.  There's a slight coarseness to the connector threads, a blemish to the chrome on one basket, and the basket to body screws are the kind one finds on cheap toys - none of this is Skylar's doing.

I'm delighted and would like to heap praise on Skylar and his team and all the other members of this thread who helped push the project on for their monumental efforts to achieve this result.  Never dreamed I'd have the chance to build such handsome mics.

Now to assemble.  Gulp.

Recived my bodies as well today.
There is slightly China feeling but I'm happy with this price to fun ratio.

Thanks x 10^6
