There are a few different options available. There's the mk7 project, the mk47 and i think the g7 will work too...
Try and search a bit for these and see if you can find some kits around. They are all good projects.

Thanks, I'll check these out.

Peanuts!  ;D

Well, I did think it'd make a nice salt shaker, albeit a very expensive one...

No,it´s not expensive.
The "Saliera" of Benvenuto Cellini (built 1540-1543,DIY) is valued at 50.000.000 Euros! ;D

Cheers,

Udo.

2 bodies landed here in Australia a few weeks ago - no duties for us... luckily.

The metal workmanship is reasonable, not perfect of course, but good enough for the price. Thanks again Skylar - you've put so much work in to this, really appreciate it! It hasn't been an easy road for you!!

2nd Production run has officially started.

The first post has been updated with more info.

...more details on this soon, but we're doing a couple of different things that should resolve the problems that some of the units from the first batch had.
And the top mesh non-bias issue is being fixed on this run.

Also, I will be out of the country for the last half of April 2011, so my access to email and this forum will be limited.
In my absence, please email any questions to justin [at] equinoxsystems.net -OR- support [at] equinoxsystems.net
I shall return the first week of May 2011.

stay tuned...

Excellent!  That was quick, and just in time as I need another body.
Thanks Skylar

cheers,
dave

Good, really desperate to get one -heh- but lost the first patch by paying out some other bills

On the equinox website it says sold out - does this refer to the first or second batch? when will ordering be opened for the second batch? thanks briomusic

Apologies if this has been answered already-- I must admit that I do not have the inclination to read all 29 pages.

RE: the spare parts--

do we know how the fit will be with other parts?  i.e. real vintage 47, Flea, AMI, etc?

If so, I might be interested in prices/availability for the aluminum capsule deck (bottom part of the headbasket)-- just the metal part-- and the aluminum top plate--the part that it mates to when the headbasket is installed (again, just the metal part).

These are the only two metal parts not available in Oliver's kit from AMI, so it would be cool to have them available if they fit.

If this has been answered already, just say so, and I'll start digging through the 29 pages.  :)

Im guessing the people who missed out due to QC will be first up in this run?

Yes. These folks have units reserved in the second run. They will get their units before anyone else.

None of these parts are interchangeable with a real U47.
The EQU47 is re-interpretation of the original with some of the "key" geometry maintained for acoustic purposes (ex: headbasket mesh and geometry) and aesthetic purposes (ex: overall size, dimensions, and general "look").
The design is targeted toward DIY builders who just want to experiment and/or build one of the existing projects around here...namely the G7, MK7, and MK47.

Skylar,

On the first run, the diapham mounting plate sits above the body tube, and is not centered.
This is done by installing the headbasket, holding it to a light and by tighting the the side headbaskets screws, equally until it is centered. By shortening the inside side rails, the diaphram plate would be lowered into the body and be pre-centered.  Using angled side rails would give a way to mount and ground the P.S.B.
(I'm using zip ties ) and provide more stability. I know these changes  in round two would involve time and money, but IMHO would greatly improve the body.
Was there talk of some compensation or something for Round 1 unbiased headbaskets?
