Thanks, Skylar.  By finishing, do you mean anodizing or more than that?  Are the body tubes made in the U.S. going to still be made of aluminum or are you going to brass?  Also, is the final finish going to match the bell caps on the bottom or are those pieces going to be finished here as well?  The body tube I got from you is slightly streaked, but not to the point of wanting to kick up a fuss about it.  Just wondering if a spare body tube is going to match the bell I already have.

By finishing, I mean bead-blasting and nickel plating (though ONLY the headbasket will be bright nickel plated just like the first batch).
The bodies will be made of aluminum, then bead-blasted.
The end result should look even better than the first batch!
Since it's a different finishing house and a different batch of parts, I cannot guarantee that parts from the first batch will match these parts.

When I have finished units, I will do a comparison here, so you guys can see for yourself.
I will get a pro photographer again, so that you'll have quality high-res images to look at.

Hi Skylar. How about some of the other issues involving bent headbaskets, jammed screws, etc...

I'm assuming these will be resolved. Thx!

I actually was meaning to post here to say I took one of the two I had from the first batch and had it bead blasted and Dull Nickel plated.
It looks fantastic! Just like the originals did.
When I bead blasted it a lacquer of some sort coating was removed and most of those verticle lines were removed to. After the plating no more lines at all and it really looks like a U47 now.

It only cost me 40 bucks total at a local shop here so everyone should look for a local plating shop and do that.

Also even better the plating added a bit more material and made it fit tighter with the base! Which I think the tolerances were a little too loose on that fit. But hey 240 bucks total and now I have a bitchen U47 body!

Nice work Skylar! My circuit in this body sound crazy good.

Hey Chuck, any pics?  I'd like to see if you do.  I'd gladly spring for $40 if I can find a place locally that will do that.  And yes, I'm running the Mk47 kit in mine and I have to say, it sounds amazingly good.  Perhaps the best sounding mic I've used in over three decades of using them professionally.  I'm VERY pleased.

for those in europe gleier does the plating for neumann since 50 years, I'm going to get the body done, whoever wants to join me send me a mail or pm me

Hi Skylar,

any news on availability / pricing / did the production run complete?

Cheers,
B.

Just checked with our factory—we're still on schedule.

Also, I will be out of the office for a few days, so please funnel questions to support [at] equinoxsystems [dot] net.

Here's the scoop.

Production has been delayed by an additional 45 days due to the headbasket. They're spending extra time to make sure that the wire mesh is absolutely correct this time around.

Kind of a good news/bad news situation.

I'm also working on a two other projects in the meantime that I hope to share soon.

Cool, so we're looking for availability somewhere about late august, early september?

Cheers,
B.

Funny you should mention...

I'm expecting an update from our Asian vendor this evening. Then I'll have a better idea of whether we're still on schedule or not.

Also, I will be posting updates and other things on a blog that I built today.

Looks like September is still a good estimate for when we will have the next batch in stock and shipping.
