Hi Guys,
would like to jump in the 51x community,
but in order to raise the fund, i would like to know how much
is the kit and how much is the power supply for the non UK european people,
i 've searched through the thread, but it seems i'm too blind to see the info,
please can someone, or best silent_arts, post the prices again ?
Thanks for this amazing projetcs,
Pacemaker

At the moment it is USD 320.00 , GBP 200.00 and Euro 230.00.

Your contact for the purchase will be Volker in Germany as he supplies to EC. Hence the price for 511 is Euro 230.00. If I remember correctly the power supply pcb is Euro 22.00 and the transformer is Euro 45.00.

We do not have the price for the power supply case yet. I have added additional screw holes to the design and I am waiting for a price from the fabricator. I'll chase it up tomorrow.

PLEASE NOTE

My deepest apologies. It seems like I made a mistake with the links to the power connectors. However, actualy the bags were stamped wrong for some reason. Also RS seems to have used the same picture for both the male and female connctors but the order numbers matter. I have corrected my previous post but here are the correct links again. If you find these connectors too expensive, the footprint of the cut out on the case is actually standard and you can pick your own from other manufacturers.

Finally a big thanks to JDB for his eagle eyes.

Boy, everybody is very quiet out there lately. I assume building the racks?

I am expecting Volker's XLR package anytime this week. I will start the next wave of invoicing then.

Best, Jeff

I've built my rack and my preamps.  I'm sorta waiting to see if the transformer thing will happen soon.  I realized that my power supply is +\- 18V, not +\-16.  Will the 2520s take 36v?

The 2520's will run on bipolar 18V rails. They will get a little warmer than usual but no problems. I know a lot of guys run a little hot for headroom.

Cheers, Jeff

One thing about it though, when you put the cards in the rack, You have to be very careful to get the connectors and board pins lined up properly when inserting.  the unused pins in the connector are at the bottom and a standard 500 series card tends to get inserted slightly lower than it should be.  When you tighten the bottom screw it tries to push the card up but the edges of the gold fingers catch the edge of the contacts and you can feel things start to bend a little.  I found that I had to make sure the connector on the card is touching the very top of the connector in order to make sure it stays lined up.

Perhaps a little spacer PCB is needed to keep things centered?  Just a little 3 contact job that can be inserted so that standard 500 series cards are always lined up properly.

Now waiting for those card-edge boards. Have not started on the rack yet.
Jeff will have some in his hands soon.

haven't had any problems with this. screwing down the top and bottom should just fit fine, there shouldn't be a tolerance of more than 1 mm (and the pitch is 3,96).
Jeff already showed some spacer PCB tricks, why not.
or you just solder 15 pin connectors for those 15 pin modules, we have them in stock ;D

Received my 51x rack (few days ago)
Interested in buying 1 complete PSU (pcb transformer case)
Thanks for this great project.
All the best.
Eric
