I'm studying e.engineering and I've decided to start a project during my summer vacation.
I got the basic knowledge but I'm uncertain on how to approach some designing parts of the project.
It is a microcontroller based robot that I want to be able to command and manage through an application in my pc. I've decided to use USART (pic) but 1) I'm not sure in what language is most suitable to write the GUI in for communication, what has been giving good resultes?
2) would I be sending assembly code packages to the PIC when I'm giving it commands from my pc? so I could for example program the gui in java and make it fill in templates that I've designed to change variables between actions???

If this forum aint suitable, can someone point me out to a decent forum on this topic?

million thanks in advance

I'm not sure your in the right place :?

sometime new parts :green:

Lio, this is not the right forum, and I'm sorry I can't point you at a more suitable one.

However, some years ago I did actually supervise a student in a robot control project. In order not to spend too much of the project time on the GUI, he used Visual Basic in the PC, and then C for the PIC controller in the robot. It worked fine, and was completed within the allowed time.

If you insist on going down the Java route, the book to read is The Definitive Guide to Building Java Robots by Scott Preston, but I can't recommend that you tackle it this way unless you have a lot of time.

Good luck!
