I use a regular toroidal transformer and don't have problems with humming ! So yes it's ok .

You may want to try Rukkus's kit if you are not a pro. I wish I had done that now. This is one tough build with all the confusing options.

If you use lorlin rotary switch No, with potmeters Yes ! Look at the picture from Igor !

Mouser doesn't carry those, unfortunately there aren't any substitutes that I know of.

Does the meter switch need to be 3 way ? On the front panel I see "IN / OUT / GR", so I think it's a 3 way. But on the BOM I only see 2 way switches... :-\Anyone ?

I could probably help "some" folks who would like to, well if you're not in a rush, just to help out, not starting a factory here   .
PM if required.


PS: That board could be a tricky one for the assembly, small traces and pads get off quickly on home etched boards if you made mistake and overheat....

Following info copied from another thread to help you to calculate the fuse by yourself

I decided to email Triad Magnetics and I'm glad I did. Their engineering manager responded quickly with this information...

"Since the VPT36-690 transformer is rated at 25VA (Volts times Amps), the theoretical input current would be 25VA / 115V = 0.217A or 25VA / 230V = 0.109A.  However, this does not include the magnetizing current or inrush currents – so we generally recommend the fuse be rated at 1.3 to 1.6 times the theoretical input current.  It is very important that a Slow Blow (time delay) fuse be used to allow for inrush currents that exceed the fuse rating to prevent nuisance fuse blowing."

This seems like a very good guideline for fusing the transformer.

Use the search button or better ... read my post again, use your brain, take a calculator, read the datasheet of your transformer, apply the (easy) calculation from my post on your transformer and line specs and youre done  :
