I would take out the relays and test them one by one.

Here is an idea. If you can find the short only when it's powerde up, I would take out the relay and connect directly like on the picture.
If there is tsill a short, then ICs would be involved.
Check all the solders of every ICs, and then check the ICs.

If there is no short, then Relay is involved.

Do you have that on both channels ?
If so, I would suspect a human error.

The bulk of PCB layout does look quite similar to Igors' original layout for the mixbuzz1, so it may have been fleeced from that (with some adjustments to shove it all onto one board).
That may explain why the schematic is (oddly) not published, and that the calibration section of the manual is more or less copied from these pages.

But then again, any clone of the bus compressor would have very similar calibration routines!

Worth noting that you are unlikely to find Igors' version for sale anywhere. So if 'diy racked' wants to resurrect Igors' design that is fair enough.
Although they would come off better by just being honest about it....

I sell the original mixbuzz 500 series PCBs. The rack unit is the same, just with a different layout for the control board. All the docs Igor sent me are hosted on the website (it's undergoing a refurb atm and I haven't got the new octopart bom up yet but drop us an email and I can send you the originals)
I believe the docs apply to the rack and 500 series versions. There are pics of both

The DIY Racked one is Prussia's version.  Igor used to use his enclosures.  If you ordered one of these kits from Igor, and you got the faceplate, that is where the facr plate came from.  There was something that happened a while back, and Prussia left this site.  I would expect that his version is Igor's work, but updated.  I think he added something similar to what Gustav (PCBGrinder) did with the MS/Dual Mono addition to Igor's design in the latest update.  I wouldn't be surprised if it looks very similar to Gustav's work.  My opinions aside, that is the sort of history as far as I know.

And by the way he didn't leave the forum: R2D2 is Purusha.

The M/S option was offered by Igor as a separate board for the mastering oriented products he did at the time, so it is very probably Igor's own design integrated.

Whoops, Yes I misspelled it, Purusha.  You can get the case/face plate from his site DIY Racked.  IT should be like the white faced panel on page 2-3 of this thread.  This was a while ago, so the memory is not the sharpest on this.

i would like to put gold cans 202c in place of THAT..it should be doable I see many pics with that config. Which changes should be done ?

Hey Guys,

I recently accuired a second hand mixbuzz v2.3 that was faulty, I'm trying to repair this one.
I dissconnected the PSU board first, just to get acurate readings from the PSU.
I replaced the 7815 voltage regulator because it had broken legs, and replaced the 7915 because it was reading -20V at the output.

all voltages are fine except the -15V wich still reads -20V and I can't seem to figure out why! I'm getting + and -27V after the rectifier diode bridge, all the other voltage read perfect, maybe except -12V but from what I can tel this one goes to ground, so it's just 0V measured between ground and  -12V... In the PSU schematics I can see +24V but can't seem to figure out why, or I'm not picking up the voltage doubler somewhere?

Has anyone some idea why my 7915 regulater gives me -20V?

So the problem resolved itself, when I connected the PSU board to the main board, no idea how that did the trick, but it works!
All voltages check out fine now, so I popped all IC's back in place and behold... a cheap mixbuzz!
