Hi,

where can I find the "adapter plate" for the Carnhill VTB9045?

Audiomaintenance says that did not include this adapter!

I have a couple of extra plates with the printing upside down.  PM me if you need some.

OK Thanks!

What transformer spec was used in the original?
And what ratio gives you the gain range on the front panel (up to 75dB)?
The transformers listed have very different ratios. Carnhills are 4:1 I think (12dB gain), others have 10:1 (20 dB gain)

I believe that the transformers in the original SSL consoles were the Jensen 115 series (1:10), and that is what the front panel markings are based on, plus, you get an added 6dB of gain if you take the output of the THAT chip balanced.  Other transformers would need to have a different scale on the front panel.

Hey,

Great looking project that I've come across :D

I have a few things on my mind that I'd like to ask on this thread:

1. Assuming that this is a lunchbox format, it runs at 24v since I'll be hooking this up with a whistlerock psu, 19" design?

2. Is it necessary to have the leds connected or can they just be left out, as well as the hpf filter? Rarely prefilter recordings at sessions.

3. Has anybody around here put an order purely from mouser together and would like to share it with me?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to start this build :)

Greetings,
1.  This build will do fine in an original lunchbox or equal, as it runs on +/- 16VDC.  All you need to do is cut off the 2 extra fingers on the dotted line.  The only reason for the extra fingers was to fit better in a 51X rack.
2.  You can leave out any/all of the LEDs and the HPF and even the meter if you'd like.  To leave out the HPF, you'll need to jumper the HPF relay in the NC position.  If you jumper out the relay, you might as well leave out that relay's diode, cap, and switch as well.
3.  I have not, but maybe someone else has.
Hope this helps!

Hi,

For SSL 4k bruno's PCB, I noticed that the transformer EA 2622 (from classicapi.com) could be an alternative to Cinemag or Jensen?

The Electrical characteristics and socket are similar to the jensen 110 and the Cinemag 75101APC.

The price of EA2622 is very good! And the sound?

You can confirm this?

Got a few questions about the ics as follows:

IC2 - THAT 1646 PO8-U

This is what I found on mouser, can anybody help me to narrow down my choice?:

http://de.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=THAT+1646+PO

IC4 - TL074

Also mouser but don't know which one to pick:

http://de.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=TL074

IC3, IC22, IC23, IC24, IC29, IC30, IC205, IC208 - NE5534

Mouser again, still no clue which one to pick:

http://de.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=NE5534

IC32 - TL052

http://de.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=TL052

IC301, IC401 - LM3915

Yup, mouser again, this one is for the leds it seems which I don't wanna use anyways:

http://de.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?Keyword=LM3915

IC402 - 78L05Z

Same mouser search situation again, would greatly appreciate a direction :)

IC1:

saw that the MAT-02H is quite rare. Is there still a store that has these in stock?

try searching the LM394 on google (or Ebay)
This is a good alternative to MAT-02H.
The sound is equal!

Here's where you can get the MAT-02s
https://sites.google.com/site/diypartsstore/home

For the ICs, you want the "through hole" or DIP versions, not SMT

Thanks bruno, got mostly everything covered.

And I could use this cap for C2, C3, C6, C45A, C45B, CP+1, CP-1, CP+2, CP- 2, CP+3, CP-3, CP+4, CP-4, CP+5, CP-5, CP+6, CP-6, CP+7, CP-7, CP+22, CP-22, CP+29, CP- 29, CP+205, CP-205, CP+208, CP-208 ?

Is it crucial for the build to be at this quality or is there something cheaper at hand? I saw other ceramics with 50v for 0.08 usd.

Anything from that search would work properly?

http://de.mouser.com/Passive-Components/Capacitors/Ceramic-Capacitors/Multilayer-Ceramic-Capacitors-MLCC-Leaded/_/N-4gzxj?P=1z0wqusZ1z0vkpmZ1z0z7l5Z1z0vn3tZ1z0vn2s&Ns=Pricing%7C0

And about the 1N4148, anything specific?

Also, with what did you replace 15uH MICC/N-150J-00? Otherwise I'll just pick culteousness1's suggested replacement.

Once my order is complete, I'll make it available for users of this board :)

Look at this link:

This is a alternative!

Bye :)

I ordered the reverse polarity relay but the vendor sent the wrong part.  So no joy there.

I did the swap as you suggested bruno, on all 4 amps, here is a photo of the patch if it helps anyone.

Could some one post a diagram of which two traces to cut and jump? I know its the RL3 relay but not sure were to go from there.

Thanks

i used the EA2622 on my 2 4k's... they work, too soon for me to give an opinion as to the sound of them just yet, have only heard my voice through an atm450 through them when i was was testing them and calibrating the hpf... hopefully will have a good impression of them in the next few weeks after i get the front panels for them....

Has any one checked the 4k's polarity? i will as soon as i get a chance if no one else beats me to it. ;D
