I've closed the survey.

I put the survey out to determine:
-how much interest there is in this project
-which kit configuration is most desirable
-which headbasket finishing option is preferred

I now have an adequate enough sampling to reveal the quantities I need to have suppliers quote.
You will still be able to purchase a mic body even if you didn't fill out the survey.

If you did not fill out the survey and would like an email notice one week before these go on sale, send me an email. PLEASE, DO NOT reply here.
My email address is in my profile.

Great Skylar!  ;D

I think the price will go down, down , down, right? do you have an estimate yet?

I want to offer these for less than $200 each.

I am having difficulties finding mesh that matches the exact specs at a reasonable price.
So, right now, that's the limiting factor.
I've got a decent quote that's close to the correct specs, but the wire diameter of the fine mesh in brass is just too large.
I think what I may have to do is use stainless steel for the fine mesh because they do sell stainless with the proper specs.

Thanks for updating my choice  Thanks again for all this work

Here are some cool pics if people want to drool more

*cough, cough*

any word on Power Supply boxes?

Fantastic work again, Skylar!

The manufacturer I'm working with in CA is capable of sheet metal work, so I want them to do the PS enclosures too.
Now, before I send the drawings to them, I want to see what these mic body prototypes look like (should be getting them sometime this week).

In the past I've made the mistake of promising multiple jobs to shops, getting the first round of prototypes in, and seeing that the work is terrible.
At that point, I had to back out of the other jobs I was promising, which made me look unprofessional to say the least.

So, I want to wait and make sure that the mic body protos are up-to-snuff, then I will hit them with the PS enclosure.

This is one of the reasons why you are runnin' this show par excellence, cap'n.
Bless you, man.

Cheers!

It seems that all long body mics have their headbasket polished. Is this true, or it´s a mere coincidence in the "family photo" you uploaded?

If long body implies polished headbasket, then I´ll maybe change my specs in order to keep as close as possible to the original design.

Cheers.

Got the prototypes!

I will post some pictures soon. EDIT: (FYI) It probably won't be until this evening that I can post the photos.

Overall, the machining is excellent;
there are some slight mistakes that they made on the protos, so I'll need to send them back for rework...
so it goes.
