Is there a direct swap for a CarnhiII VTB2568? WouId be fun to buiId an AmI 1081 pre with these I expect.

I can't find a CarnhiII VTB2568 in the CarnhiII catalog, are you sure that the correct number?

As far as I as know the 1081 preamp used the Marinair LO2567 output transformer which is the Ungapped version of the LO1166.
So the current Carnhill equivalents for the LO2567 are the VTB9047 , VTB9070 (1u rack narrow board version)

UTM already makes an LO1166 type transformer, it's the utm3548 it's just the matter of making the same transformer but ungapped, with is actually easier.

Not sure at aII, but sure that is what it said on CoIin's AmI pdf for his 500 1081 pre. Was kind of hoping the UTM3548 wouId do it.

I see a new offering from UTM, and it looks like a UTC clone of some sort. Anyone know anything about this one?

Thanks for the heads-up. Aound post #89 #92 we were talking about a gapped OT for SE tube circuits.
Will try these very soon. The range is expanding quite fast.

I hope you'll like this housing. We can use it for many transformers from our offer.
I'll update the catalog shortly to show you the pinout and dimensions.

This is fantastic.

It seems inevitable that I’m going to be trying a UTM transformer one of these days.

since the range is expanding quickly, here are a few things that would be interesting possibilities, commonly sought for DIY audio projects:

Triad HS-29
Triad HS-52
Triad HS-56
Triad A-11J
UTC A-10
UTC A-20
UTC A-24
UTC A-26
UTC HA-100X
UTC O-12
UTC Y-6431
Peerless S-217D

I notice from the picture that the transformer in this enclosure uses UI laminations rather than the more common EI. Is there a reason for this?

Cheers

Ian
It's just a comparison of the size of our smallest and the largest transformer (0547 vs 3590). The small one is not inside the big enclosure 😉

They look like great value for money , can the UTM 3580 type transformer be done with the new case ?

OnIy to say, if anyone has a Roberts770/AkaiM7 pre from the tape machines, the UTM 2555 sounds bIoody IoveIy into the EF86 mic input stage. SmiIing from ear to ear.

We finally run our testing boards today and did 1:1 comparisons between the UTM2546 and VTB9046. Source impedance 50Ω, load 1k. You can see the pictures and results attached.

How come and there's no ringing on the 9046 (and possible on yours also)?
