the only problem like when buying toroidals is that they are heavy and they ask 19$ for shipping!
So, it's still better to buy them from Digikey...

eD)))

What about Allied? I got my LA2A XFR there (non toroidal) and I got the hefty toroidal one for the 4 preamps you guys saw.

Just watch out for back orders as well. You'll get charged for shipping everytime.

jim

Is anyone placing an order at digikey anytime soon? this week?
i have to place an order but my money is in Paypal.
If we can arrange something.

Cheers.

any of you folks have a good canadian source for MMB (shorting) mini dpdt toggle switches? the ones i bought at addison's and abra appear to be non shorting (BBM) type.

Hi there guys.

For those interested Jim and I found a place in Montreal to engrave our panels.

Hes a very nice guy as described by Jim.

Now for those interested in using some templates found here in Front Panel Designer formats..we can buy the DXF export filter by Schaeeffer.

Cost is 148$. this is a lot but the engraves has very nice prices....a simple Gssl would cost 90-100$ from Schaeffer but this guys prices are maybe 1/4 schaeffer prices!

You mean, the machine he uses needs to "read" DXF files ?
The Schaeefer DXF export option is the only alternative ? I mean, is there any other soft which is able to export in the DXF files ?

Well, that's a very good news ! :thumb:

Hi Ed.
Yeah! the same! Well actually its in Saint- Henri! but yes its the same.

Now yes there are other alternatives but for those like me who wanna use or mod the already existing FPD files this is the only way to go.

But for others any DXF capable is fine!

Just to add to what 3nity says. You can give him Illustrator files as well as some other formats and he will convert to what he needs.

The panel you all saw was done there. Don't forget the prices are great but its a cash basis, otherwise if you want a bill its double!

Also note that some colors do not laser engrave well (I learned the hard way that gold, or champagne, in other words light colors are a no-no). Black, Blue and red are fine. I haven't tried painted panels so you may have to ask for a test.

That's definitely a good news !!! On the panels Jim show us, the results were very clean and professionnal... If it stays in the $30-$50 range, it's great... :thumb:

Thx,

Sorry for the poor pix.

Ho hoooo

Even with you're_right_those_are_poor_pics, it looks beautiful !

I've got two questions :

1) How much did you pay ?
2) Did you bought a sheet or did the guy used your RP-Electronic front panel ?

Thanks,

eD

You brought your panels all he does is the engraving.
Hes able to do the drilling too. but extra $$$.

I used the RP front panels coming with the case!

Prices depend on each work to do!

I paid mine 35$

Hey Ed.

I did see that you ask a lot of questions about mics.

Are you doing any work on any tube mics?

I want to mod a Nady or Apex but still not decided.

Let me know anything.

Cheers.
